For many years, I taught at a little Christian school.  For a few of those years, I was the elementary director.  During the summer of one of those years, we realized that we had a deficit of students and staff. The economy was struggling and many Christian schools were closing.  Because our funds came mainly from tuition, we weren't sure if we were going to survive the next year or not.

The principal, the early childhood director and I committed to pray together as many mornings as possible.

As we prayed, we felt led to only pray prayers of praise. We knew that God knew our needs so we began to praise Him for the answers that we couldn't see.  We praised him for whatever answers He brought.  We put our cares into His capable hands and just praised Him because He was God and knew what was best.

As the summer neared the end, enough students enrolled that we would be able to stay afloat. However, we still needed a few more teachers and staff.  As you can imagine, a small school cannot pay as well as a public school. It was harder to find those that would be willing to sacrifice and also be a blessing to the school.  We kept praying and praising.  Miraculously, by summer's end, we had students, teachers, staff, and everything we needed to begin school!

Not only did God take care of our needs, but He taught us a valuable lesson that we have treasured and cultivated through the following years.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice evermore.  Pray without ceasing.

In everything give thanks;

for this is the will of God

in Christ Jesus concerning you.
