As we have been trying to listen to what the Lord wants us to do with Kingdom Kids, it began to be evident that we needed to invite families, not just the children. This was confirmed several times in the last few months.
So far, with Kingdom Kids, we have had activities and prayer times with kids at church and during chapel at school. That's great, but it's not enough. We began to realize that in order for prayer to become a daily walk, it needed to be followed through in the homes. Many parents teach their children to pray but some find it challenging. That's where Kingdom Kids can help.
A week or so ago I was at a conference. The teacher was talking about Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. She said, "In the 20 years prior, others had barely made any progress. But Nehemiah gathered the families and told them to build what was in front of them. It was finished in record time!"
That struck me with the understanding that working together with families and building what is in front of us is the key.
On our website, we have lesson pages called Prayer Points and a Kids' Page to help get prayer started or supported in church or in the home. There are also other helps in the Extras. We are seeking other ways to be a support to families who want to build up the wall of prayer in their homes.
